Richard Armstrong of Wellesley and Sagamore Beach, Massachusetts passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on November 22nd at the age of 82. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle, as well as a good friend to many.
Richard lived a long, full life. He was born in Newton, Massachusetts. He proudly served in the United States Army, and then went on to have a successful career as a sales professional. He enjoyed traveling, spending time at the beach, working on a home improvement project or helping others with one, and playing golf with friends at Woodland Golf Club. His most cherished moments were the times spent with family.
Dick is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Penny; his four children Sandra Seifert (William) of Wellesley, Scott Armstrong (Gay) of Columbia, SC, Daryl Hedlund (Eric) of Wellesley and Lynn Hershelman (Douglas) of Wellesley. Beloved grandfather of Samantha Gallagher (Sean), Elizabeth Vahey, Charlie Seifert, Tom Seifert, Lauren Hickman (Andrew), Joseph Armstrong, Alexandra Hedlund, Amy Hedlund, Matt Hedlund (Jane), Eric Hershelman, Michael Hershelman and Julia Hershelman; great grandfather of Penny and Sean Gallagher, Jackson Hickman and Rosie Hedlund. He is also survived by his sister, Shelley Blais (Jack) and brothers Ronald (Doris) and Roy (Maria) as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Elizabeth Armstrong, and his sister, Roberta Austin.
Visiting hours will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St., Wellesley on Monday, Nov. 28 from 4-7pm. His funeral will be held from the funeral home on Tuesday, Nov. 29 at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Paul Church, 502 Washington St., Wellesley at 10am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley.
