Thomas P. Pina, Jr., 61, of New Bedford passed away Friday November 18, 2022 after a brief illness.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Thomas P. and Patricia (Barros) Pina, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
After graduation from New Bedford High School, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years. He then worked for the Bristol County Sheriff’s Office as a corrections officer for 20 years until his retirement.
Tom was very committed to his physical fitness and enjoyed body building and weightlifting. He participated in various amateur bodybuilding competitions and won several trophies.
He is survived by his children, Thomas “T.J.” Pina III, Michael Pina, and Marissa Pina; his brothers, John Pina, Leonard Pina, and Wayne Pina; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Service will be held on Monday November 28th at 11 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial with military honors will be in Rural Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 9-11 AM. For online condolence book, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
