Gloria E. (Vargas) Gonzalez, age 84, a resident of Tewksbury for over 35 years, passed away at her home on Friday, November 18, 2022. She was surrounded by her loving family, who cared for her along with Hospice. She was the beloved wife of Bienvenido Gonzalez who passed away on June 27, 2011.
Gloria was born in Quebradillas, Puerto, Rico on August 21, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Juan Vargas and the late Tomasa (Perez) Vargas. She moved to Cambridge, MA in 1957 were she met her late husband. They married on May 10, 1958 and raised their family in Somerville until moving to Tewksbury in 1985.
Gloria worked as a machinist at TRW Fasteners Division for over 20 years until her retirement. She was a fierce prayer warrior, enjoyed weekly Bingo at St. Williams Church in Tewksbury, and going to the casinos. Gloria treasured the companionship of her family, especially her grandchildren and great granddaughter. She always commented on how they were her sunshine and brought her so much joy.
Surviving Gloria are her daughters, Maria Marchand and her husband Michael, Crucita Johnson, all of Tewksbury, MA; she leaves behind six grandchildren Ross and Rachel Baxter, Samantha, Jacqueline and Elizabeth Marchand and Nicolas Johnson; one great- granddaughter Adriana Haskins who brought Gloria great happiness, and many extended families in Puerto Rico. She was also the mother of Daisy Baxter who passed away on October 22, 2016.
