Allix, Helen M. (Keating) age 78, from South Boston passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Nov. 21st, 2022.
Helen was predeceased by her husband James J. Allix, her parents Helen (Shimkus) and Joseph Keating, and her sisters Jean and Joan. Helen was the cherished and devoted mother to Andrea Allix, Michelle Allix, Debra Flaherty and her husband James, James A. Allix and his wife Kim as well as Annemary Heggenberger and her husband Tom. Helen was the beloved “Gram” to Coleman, Shamus, and Kaleigh Rose Flaherty. Helen is survived by her siblings Joseph Keating and Anne Caldwell.
Helen devoted herself to her community and the well-being of its people. Helen began her service at the Multi-Service Center on “D” Street before embarking on her 30 year career with the City of Boston. Helen was the Chairwoman of South Boston Against Drugs, served on both the Laboure and Gavin Foundation Boards and served as the treasurer for the Convention Ctr. Foundation. Upon her retirement, she became passionate about the Feeding Program that assisted families in her beloved “D” Street.
Visiting hours will be held at St. Peter's Church, 75 Flaherty Way, South Boston on Monday, November 28, 2022 from 3-7PM. Funeral Mass will held at St. Peter Lithuanian Church in South Boston on Tuesday at 10AM followed by interment at Blue Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Condon Feeding Program at the Condon Community Council located at 200 “D” Street, Boston, MA 02127.
