Gloria Marie Mills, of E. Sandwich, age 94, accepted our Lord's hand and passed away peacefully Saturday, November 19th.
She was the devoted wife of the late Robert Alan Mills and aunt to Karen (Rick) Nahill, Barbara Ginsberg, David Curelli, Maria Curelli, John (Jane) Curelli, Tom Curelli, and Brian (Rosemary) Burwell. Gloria was predeceased by her beloved parents Biagio and Fausta Curelli, brothers Rocco, Rudy, and Ernie Curelli, and her nephew, Christopher Curelli.
She was the cherished great aunt to several nieces and nephews, including Nick and Ben Curelli, Christian and Lauren Smailes, Gabriel Ginsberg, Michael and Maria Curelli. Gloria was also the beloved great aunt to nephews Anthony, Andrew, and Bobby Nahill, who she helped raise as her own.
She was born and raised in Boston, educated through high school in the local Catholic schools where she developed her strong faith. Gloria graduated from The Vesper George School of Art, and continued her education at Boston University. There she was voted Miss BU (the start of her pageant life) and was later selected as Miss Massachusetts in the 1949 Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City.
Her career took her to New York and California as a flight attendant, and she eventually became Manager of the Admirals Club for American Airlines. There she met and married the love of her life, Alan. For over 50 years they traveled the world and lived in San Francisco, Santa Monica, Dallas, Scottsdale, and eventually E. Sandwich on Cape Cod to be near family.
Throughout their marriage, they shared a deep love of music, especially Classical, and were members of Boston's Symphony Hall and Tanglewood.
Gloria was a gifted artist and passionate about all things Italian. Her family and faith were the cornerstones of her life. She will rest peacefully with her beloved husband and family at Forest Hills Cemetery.
