Angiolina (DiCenso) Zavarelli passed away peacefully at the CareOne Nursing Home of Lexington on Tuesday, November 15th. She was 94. Born and raised in Sulmona, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (DelMonico) DiCenso.
Angiolina lived many years in Boston’s North End, where she and her late husband Salvatore raised their sons. She has lived in Medford since 1999. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Angiolina loved to support her family by keeping a beautiful home and cooking. She prepared delicious and hearty meals which always brought her family together.
The beloved wife of the late Salvatore Zavarelli, who passed away in 2013, she was a devoted mother to Joseph Zavarelli and his wife Michele of Stoneham, and Ralph Zavarelli and his late wife Ornella of Medford. She was a loving grandmother to Tania, Sara, Daria, David and Sophia as well as a loving great grandmother to Talia and Nella Mae. Angiolina is predeceased by her dear sister Loretta DiCenso.
Angiolina’s funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Monday, November 21 at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family on Sunday 4-8 PM. Services will conclude with entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery Chapel Hill, Malden.
