William Russell Stokes, III, age 85, of Sautee, passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2022.
Mr. Stokes was born on December 3, 1936, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late William Russell Stokes, Jr. and Elizabeth Harbuck Stokes. Mr. Stokes was a graduate of Georgia Tech with a Civil Engineering Degree. He served in the National Guard and was a Hydrologist with the U.S. Geological Survey Water Resources Division for 45 plus years. He was ordained in 1962 as a deacon in the Baptist church and also taught Sunday School.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Fulford Stokes, Sautee; daughters and sons-in-law, Terri Stokes Walker (Barry), Vicki Stokes Pharis (Charles), and Mary Stokes Sepe (Scott); sister, Jackie Stucki (Will); brothers and sisters-in-law, Phil Stokes (Gail) and Glenn Stokes (Mary); grandchildren, Andrew Pharis (Melanie), Sarah Richardson (Matthew), Ryan Sepe; great-grandchild, Danny Pharis.
Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 20, 2022, at The Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles Pharis will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
