Obituary

PANAMA CITY, FL—Thomas E. “Ted” Carr, 95 years old, a longtime resident of Lowell, died Tuesday evening, at the home of his son, in Panama City, FL. He was the husband of the late Mary C. (McMahon) Carr, who died in 1991.

He was born in Waterbury, CT, on February 6, 1907, a son of the late Joseph and Mary Carr, and was a graduate of St. Peter’s Grammar School.

Mr. Carr had been employed as a Compositor by the Courier Corporation, in Lowell until his retirement. Previously he had worked for American Hide and Leather. He was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church and held membership in the Holy Name Society and the St. John’s Hospital Men’s Guild. He was also an active member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society for the Immaculate Conception Parish.

Surviving him are a daughter and son-in-law: Dorothy and Herbert McCarthy, of Lowell; a son: Robert T. Carr, of Panama City, FL; five grandchildren and their spouses: Deborah and Michael Brown, of Dracut; Brian and Mary McCarthy, of Richmond, VA; Barry and Nancy McCarthy, of Lowell; Caroline McCarthy, of Lowell; and Stephen and Tara McCarthy, of Brighton; six great-grandchildren: Jennifer Brown, Christopher Brown, Paul McCarthy, Christine McCarthy, Lauren McCarthy and Daniel McCarthy.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM on Sunday, August 11th, at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, (Rte. 38). His Funeral Mass to be offered MondayAugust 12th, at 10:30 AM at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH, Lowell. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery, Lowell.
