Mrs. Doris Lauraine (Garland) Jenkin, a long time resident of Medford, Massachusetts, died at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford on May 16, 2006, following a lengthy illness. She was 85 years old.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on July 8, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Edgar and Louise (McKay) Garland. Mrs. Jenkin was a long time employee for the Registry of Motor Vehicles, service in the Driver Education Department. She had been a US Navy veteran, service during WWII from February 25, 1943 until her honorable discharge on February 22, 1944, from the Naval Auxiliary Air Station, Ellyson Field in Pensacola, Florida.
She was an active member of the Medford Women’s Club as well as the Medford Historical Society and the Friends of Lawrence Memorial Hospital. In her spare time she always enjoyed line dancing.
Besides her beloved husband, William, she will be sorely missed by one loving son and daughter-in-law; William R. and his wife Annette L. Jenkin of West Wareham, two loving daughters; Teresa L. Roberto of Wakefield and Elaina M. Colwell of Medford, 10 cherished grandchildren; Eric, Billy, Jarrod, Chris, Stephen, Ryan, Morgan, Daniel, Kyle and Taylor, one great-grandson; Will; and one nephew, William F. Garland of Haverhill. She was also the sister of the late Edgar and Marie Garland. Her funeral service was celebrated in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, MEDFORD, Thursday, May 25, 2006, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Visitation was prior to the service, from 10 to 11 AM. Interment will be private. WWII Nay veteran.
