FALL RIVER … Germaine T. (Lamarre) Boulay, 97, of Fall River passed away Friday, November 11, 2022, at Catholic Memorial Home.
She was the widow of Raymond A. Boulay.
Mrs. Boulay was born in Fall River a daughter of the late Simeon and Alberta (LeMay) Lamarre and had lived in Fall River all of her life.
Survivors include her 2 sons: Rene Boulay and his wife Barbara of Middleboro; Adrien Boulay of Fall River; 5 daughters: Monique Morrissette of Fall River; Anne - Marie Bertoncini of Fall River; Claire - Marie Mello and her husband Jimmy of Swansea; Colette Hoffman and her husband Pat of Assonet; Marie-Paule Shea and her husband Peter of Whitinsville; 14 granchildren; 17 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Bernard W. Boulay, the sister of the late Robert G. Lamarre, Madeline Patenaude and Juliette Desrosiers and grandmother of the late Joshua Mello.
Germaine's dedication to family and faith was unparalleled.
She was the President of Dames de St. Anne Society, sewed baptismal vests for the parish. She was a long-term member of the Notre Dame Parish Choir and the Woman's Guild. She also served as lector for Sunday and Holy Day masses. She was recognized for her efforts when she was awarded the Marian Medal by Bishop Connolly in 1975.
Germaine was also an amazing seamstress. She sewed school uniforms, Easter outfits and dresses for the entire wedding party for many of her children.
Christmas Eve in the Boulay household was the type of event kids dream about. Wall to wall gifts and wrapping paper strewn about the floor. Even as the family continued to grow with spouses and grandchildren gifts abounded for one and all. California Street was the place to be on Sundays and Holidays. It always meant 20+ hungry adults and grandchildren could count on a home cooked meal. Mom and Dad stressed the importance of family and love for one another. These values and memories will be forever cherished by those of us who were fortunate enough to be there.
The Boulay family wishes to express our profound gratitude for the love and compassion Germaine received from the Catholic Memorial Home staff for the past six years. We feel it appropriate to encourage donations to the Home in lieu of flowers.
