LIMERICK- Mary Davis, 73 of Limerick ME. passed away at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford surrounded by family Monday September 5. She had experienced increasing health issues/illness for the last year and several weeks before her passing was involved in a car accident. She was born on June 15,1949 to Albert Henry and Florence Mina (Lyons) Howe in Rumford.
On June 1,1968 she married Dwight Davis and was married until the day she passed for 54 years.
Mary worked at the Journal Tribune in Biddeford Maine until she retired. In her retirement and free time, she enjoyed decorating cakes, collecting porcelain dolls, shopping, watching hallmark movies, spending time with her granddaughter and family and friends. Mary loved her family dearly and always enjoyed the yearly family BBQs, birthdays, weddings, and holiday gatherings. She also was a member of the Metis Native American Tribe and enjoyed attending the pow-wows and assisting as the head cook in the kitchen for those events. Her and Dwight had a vow renewal native style at a pow-wow. Mary had a love for animals and would have owned an animal refuge/shelter if she could. She had numerous animals over the years, and they were her pride and joy. She always felt bad if animals could not afford the medical care needed and donated to those causes.
She is preceded in death by her parents Albert Henry and Florence Mina (Lyons), a brother Richard Howes, and a sister Juanita Boucher. She is survived by her husband of 54 years Dwight Davis of Limerick, two sons Douglas Davis, Scott Davis and his wife Amanda and their daughter Sabrina Davis (granddaughter), two brothers Roy Howes and Albert Howes, two sisters Laura Cyr and her husband Mike and Brenda Fisher, Godchild Liz and Eric Purdy and their two sons Andrew and Austin, “Adopted” daughter Donna Paul and her husband Steve, her best friend Gail, and many nieces, nephews, aunts/uncles, and dear friends.
Mary did not want a funeral and was cremated per her wishes. Her request when she left this earth was to have her family and friends celebrate her life. Her favorite holiday was Christmas so the event will have a Christmas theme and a DJ/Karaoke. She loved elves and anything Christmas. If you wish wear elf ears or an ugly Christmas Sweater.
We invite her family and friends to please join us as we celebrate her life on Saturday December 3, 2022, at the York County Veterans Alliance at 24 Bradbury Street, Biddeford Maine from 1 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. A buffet style food bar will be provided. A cash bar will be available.
In lieu of flowers the family will be taking a collection in Mary’s Honor at the celebration of life and those funds will be donated to help other families that may be struggling to pay needed vet bills. The local vet we are providing this to helped Mary and Dwight when they needed a little financial assistance. They a fund for just this type of scenario.
