Obituary

WEST BALDWIN- Brent Anthony Libby passed away on November 9, 2022, after a short illness. He was born in Portland on March 29, 1948, to Doris Jean Black Libby and David James Libby. He spent his first five years living with his parents in Limington until the family moved the house, literally, to Baldwin where he lived for the remainder of his life. Brent attended Baldwin Consolidated School, as did his children and grandchildren years later. He was a star pitcher for the local Babe Ruth team, excelled at basketball, and graduated from Potter Academy in Sebago in 1966. He joined the Air Force after graduation and spent his first deployment in Guam. He was then stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota where he met Patricia Diane Toth. They were married in South Dakota in 1971 after Brent was honorably discharged from the service. After driving back to Maine at top speed, Pat taking blurry photos through the window, he built them a house in Baldwin, later moving the family into the “Big House” where Brent’s mother and many aunts and uncles were born. Brent worked for 37 years at Parker Nichols in Portland, mainly in the heat treat section, never again stepping foot inside once retired. He enjoyed NASCAR, sports, hunting, and being a wonderful grandfather. Brent was predeceased by his loving wife Pat after 48 years of marriage when she very sadly passed in 2019. He is survived by son Josh Libby of Cornish, daughter Shane Libby of Auburn, California and her husband Leon Gearhart, and son Kyle Libby of Baldwin and his wife Vanessa, as well as three grandchildren, Samuel, Isabella, and Jackson. There will be a private memorial at a later date.
