Obituary

Corinne Ann Hebard of East Walpole, passed away peacefully at Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton, on November 9, 2022. She was born on February 11, 1945, in Everett, and was raised by her Aunt Glenna and Uncle Sam Hebard.

Corinne attended Walpole schools, graduating from Walpole High School with the class of 1964. She worked for the state in Boston until her retirement.

Corinne grew up in South Walpole and was active for many years in the Sunday School and Youth Group at the South Walpole United Methodist Church before moving with her aunt and uncle to a home in East Walpole where she lived for the rest of her life. In spite of a profound hearing loss, Corinne participated in myriad activities and endured many difficulties with great fortitude.

An active member of the Norfolk Grange #135 and the Norfolk County Pomona Grange #27 for 60 years, she enjoyed serving as chaplain, creating prayers for the monthly meetings, as well as other positions.

She traveled extensively with an East Walpole friend who introduced her to the Union Congregational Church after she had been attending the United Church of Norwood for several years. Continuing her faith journey at Union, she served on the Memorial Gifts and Outreach committees, as a liturgist, and for several years as a Deacon. She took pleasure in keeping in touch with her church family by sending out birthday greetings to members of the congregation each month.

Never having learned to drive, Corinne utilized public transportation to Boston, could be seen walking all over East Walpole, and in later years relied on friends for rides to appointments, afterwards often treating them to a late breakfast or afternoon snack. Eating out was always a special joy.

Corinne was an avid knitter, creating countless hats and scarves for various charities. She was also a prolific reader and enjoyed activities at the Walpole Senior Center. At one time she maintained as many as 38 pen pals.

Corinne will be especially remembered for her courageous life, her kindness, and a smile which would light up the world of those around her.

There will be a memorial gathering in the Chapel of Union Congregational Church, 55 Rhoades Avenue, East Walpole, at 1:30, on Wednesday, November 16, followed by a funeral service in the sanctuary at 2:00PM.

Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Walpole.

Donations may be made in Corinne’s memory to Union Congregational church, 55 Rhoades Ave. East Walpole, MA 02032.
