William L. “Bill” Wensel, 72, of Anderson passed away on November 6, 2022 at Five Star in Noblesville following an extended illness.
He was born on February 27, 1950 in Franklin, Pennsylvania to James L. and Theora Ethel (Bell) Wensel.
He worked for 30 years at Guide Lamp in Production. He was a member of the UAW 663. He served as both president and vice-president of the Lampco Federal Credit Union board of directors for 15 years. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed NASCAR, playing softball, racing stock cars at the Anderson Speedway and racing Go-carts.
He is survived by his two children, Michelle Wensel (fiancé’, Dennis Hopper Jr.) Swope of Noblesville and Chris (Rachel) Wensel of Anderson; three brothers, Don (Paula) Wensel of Alexandria and Ron (Lori) Wensel of Greenfield and Aaron (Amanda) Wensel of Anderson; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Cathy Wensel; and his beloved dog, “Baby”.
Funeral service will be at 1:00pm on Monday, November 21, 2022 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Rev. Mary Ann Randolph officiating. The burial will take place in East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to Alzheimer’s Association or Madison County Humane Society.
