Loretta B. Michaud of 35 Clara Drive in Mystic passed away peacefully on November 5, 2022.
Loretta was born on May, 11th 1935 in Fitchburg, MA to her loving parents Louis and Irene Boucher. She was married on September, 28th 1957 at Sacred Heart Church in Groton, CT to the love of her life, Patrick J. Michaud, who she is now joyously reunited with in Heaven.
Loretta was a 1953 graduate of Robert E. Fitch High School. She proudly served the Town of Groton in the Social Services department for more than 17 years, retiring in 1998. She was a vibrant and active member of both her church and diocese, serving as a communicant of St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church for over 50 years. In that time she was actively involved in marriage and baptism preparation, Small Christian Communities, and a minister of holy communion.
In her free time, Loretta enjoyed spending time with her husband and family, reading, stenciling, and staying active. She enjoyed spending spring mornings on her Gazebo and winter nights supporting UConn Women’s basketball. She was devoted to her family and cherished the moments spent in the company of her siblings during regular Sunday breakfast.
She is survived by her two children, Jeanne (Michael) Ross of Westbrook, CT and David (Wendy) Michaud of Seabrook, NH, her three grandchildren, Jessica (Steven) Plourde, Kelley (Jessica) Ross, and Caralyn (Skylar) Ross, and a great grandchild, Kieran Patrick Ross. She is predeceased by her brothers, Ronald Boucher and Robert Boucher, and will be deeply missed by her surviving sisters, Lorraine Simmons, Jeanne Boucher, and Dianne Haines, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church, 69 Groton Long Point Road in Groton on Friday, November 11, at 1:00pm.. There will be no calling hours. A private burial for immediate family will be held at a later date.
