Anthony J. Morandi, Jr. of Billerica formerly of Woburn, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2022, at the age of 87. Born in Woburn he was the son of the late Anthony and Cecelia (Martello) Morandi.
Raised and educated in Woburn, Anthony was a member of the 1953 graduating class of Woburn High School. He went on to further his studies at Northeastern University where he earned his degree in engineering. He also studied at the University of Illinois, Stanford and Columbia Universities. Anthony taught for several years at Northeastern University, but his primary work was in eye research and technology. Anthony also had a very strong Catholic faith and took great comfort in his faith with his daily prayers and the rosary. Anthony was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis of Assisi.
Anthony is survived by his sister, Cecelia Mantere and her husband John of Billerica. He was the loving uncle of Jay Mantere of Billerica, and Mark Mantere and his wife Barbara of Burlington. Loving great uncle of Giavanna and Landon Mantere.
Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Monday, November 14th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Charles Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Winchester.
