Ronald W. "Bunnum" LaPlante, 79, of Westport, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 5, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was husband of the late Barbara (Murray) LaPlante and the late Dianne M. (McGough) LaPlante.
Born in Fall River, he was son of the late Wilfred and Medora (Bessette) LaPlante. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served his country in the United States Army. He was a pipefitter for Local 51 in Providence, following his retirement he became known as a world famous school bus driver in the Town of Westport. Bunnum was a former volunteer firefighter and EMT for the Town of Westport. An avid racing fan and fisherman, he was a member of the Fall River Bowling Green Fishing Club, the Westport Blue Angels Car Club and was an associate member of the VFW W.A.R. Ouellette Post 8502, Westport. Mr. LaPlante was a drummer and a singer in various local bands. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include a son: Randy LaPlante and fiancé Jessica Syde of Fall River; 3 daughters: Denise Mello and husband Scott of Westport, Carrie Silvia and husband Tony of Fall River and Suzanne Oliveira and husband Garrett of Tiverton; a brother Roger A. LaPlante; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours to which relatives and friends are invited will be Friday, November 11, 2022 at the Potter Funeral Home from 4 - 7 P.M.
Funeral services will be private.
