David P. DeCosta, 89

Dateline: Norton, MA

David P. DeCosta, age 89, of Norton, passed away peacefully, with his devoted daughter by his side on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at Brookdale of Attleboro. He was the beloved husband of Joan D. (Fish) DeCosta, to whom he was wed for nearly sixty years.

Born in Taunton, MA on November 1, 1933, he was a loving son of the late Joseph, Sr. and Lena (White) DeCosta.

Dave grew up in Taunton and Norton and was educated in Norton Schools. During the Korean War, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy. He later graduated from the New England Institute of Technology in Rhode Island.

Mr. DeCosta worked extremely hard throughout his life and was the proud and successful owner of the former Universal Construction Co. in Taunton and Meadowbrook Refrigeration in Norton.

Dave loved spending time with his adoring family, especially at his former home in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire on beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee. He was a member of the Norton Lions Club, an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed boating, snowmobiling and restoring antique cars.

In addition to his wife, he was the devoted father of Dawn M. DeCosta of Dunbarton, NH and the late Debra J. Parker. He was the cherished grandfather of Hayley Gallo of Dunbarton, NH. He was the dear brother of the late Joseph DeCosta, Jr. and is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews, including Daniel J. DeCosta of Alabama.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a graveside funeral service, accompanied with military honors on Saturday, November 19th at 11:00 A.M. at Saint Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton.

Visiting hours are omitted and in lieu of flowers, David’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Norton Lions Club, P.O. Box I, Norton, MA 02766 or the Friends of the Norton Seniors, P.O. Box 623, Norton, MA 02766.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street, Norton.
