Obituary

Adele F. Rustino passed away peacefully at the Life Care Center of Acton on Friday morning, November 4, 2022. She was 91. Raised in Medford she was the daughter of the late James E. and Adele G. (Ferrara) Rustino.

A graduate of Merrimack College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Adele earned a certification from Boston College in education. Adele enjoyed a 50 year career as a teacher and administrator. For 25 years she taught science at the Palfrey School in Watertown and served there as Head of School for 2 years. She then went on to teach at the Cambridge School of Weston for 22 years, where she offered courses in chemistry, biology and her ever popular class in marine biology which featured field experience on Cape Cod.

Adele loved her home in Concord and spent endless hours cultivating her beautiful garden. In addition to the many types and varieties of organic vegetables and flowers, she also grew patches of blueberries and raspberries. While always willing to share the bounty with family and friends, she also brought much of her yield to support the efforts of an organic farm in Concord, Gaining Ground which donates fresh food to local meal programs and food pantries. Adele was a long-time parishioner at Holy Family Parish in Concord, where she developed many friendships over the years. She and her husband Warren enjoyed spending time at their New Hampshire home during the summers, where they often vacationed with their family and hiked through the White Mountains.

The beloved wife of Warren Carberg, with whom she shared 20 years of marriage, Adele was the sister of the late Jimmy Rustino and his surviving wife Karen of Daytona Beach, Florida. Adele leaves her dear nieces Diane Digau and her husband Bill of Stratham, NH, and Cheryl Whelan and her husband Pat of Daytona Beach, Fl. She is also survived by her devoted step-children, Amy, Ethan and Becky Carberg.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord, on Friday November 11, 2022 at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Adele’s name to Gaining Ground, PO Box 374, Concord, MA 01742, or [email protected].
