NEW PORT RICHEY, FL – John H. “Harold” Conway, 86, of New Port Richey, Florida, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, November 5, 2022. He passed into Eternal Life in South Hadley surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Doohoma, Belmullet, County Mayo, Ireland on February 5, 1936, a beloved son of the late Michael and Bridget (Callaghan) Conway. He was raised and educated in Doohoma, County Mayo, Ireland and immigrated to New York in 1971. He later lived in New Jersey before moving to New Port Richey, Florida. He was employed as a carpenter with the Local 608 Carpenter’s Union in New York. He enjoyed playing and watching golf and was a lifelong fan of the Glasgow Celtics and the New York Jets. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and his many friends. He leaves his loving wife and best friend, Sheila (Monaghan) Conway. They were married on October 9, 1982 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Holyoke and were blessed with over 40 years of happiness together. He also leaves his two dear brothers, Reverend Monsignor Michael Conway of Florida and Ireland and P.J. Conway and his wife, Bredge, of England; his dear sister, Pauline Mangan of Ireland; his dear brother in law, Frank Ginty of London, England; his three dear sisters in law, Maureen Conway of Ireland, Bridget Ritter of Palmer and Mary Curran of London, England; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and numerous friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his dear brother, Phelim Conway; and five dear brothers in law, Eamon Mangan, Ronald Ritter, Patrick Monaghan and his wife, Mary, John Joe Monaghan and Michael Monaghan and his wife, Bridie; and his dear sister in law, Ann Ginty. His funeral will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 594 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His burial will follow the Mass at Saint Patrick Cemetery, 168 Fuller Road, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, November 12, 2022 from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. prior to his Mass. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
