Stafford R. “Steve” Squires, 90, of Derry, NH, passed away Thursday November 3, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 19, 1932 in New Haven, CT, a son of the late Stafford and Elsie (Rusch) Squires.
Steve, as he was known to family and friends, had a very close relationship with his brother Donald with whom he worked for nearly 20 years at the Derry Village Store. They enjoyed spending time, along with their wives, travelling. Stafford also was an avid horseshoe player, a pastime he passed on to his two sons, who both were State horseshoe champions. Stafford was an avid New York Yankees fan. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor.
Stafford’s family included his beloved wife of 65 years, Carol (Swertfeger) Squires, two sons, Steven Squires and his wife Deborah and Dean Squires and his fiancé Denise Page; one daughter, Dawn Smart and her husband Christopher; 10 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Jeanette Child and her late husband Al and Audrey Lowe and her late husband James, and his late brother Donald Squires and his wife Margaret, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
