Today we say goodbye to our mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and friend, Wendy Swensen. She left us peacefully on October 25, 2022. She was a unique woman, and touched so many lives. She was generous, loving, caring, and loved to have fun. Her passions included art, cooking, and gardening, and she definitely was a creative, which she passed on to her daughter and grandchildren. She was described by many as vivacious, and won the title of Queen of North High School in 1959. She then attended the Swain School of Design, the Academia di Belle Arti in Rome, Italy, and graduated from the Parsons School of Design in New York, New York. She was smart, funny, brave, and stubborn, and has been described by many as the life of the party; her smile was contagious. She could also be difficult at times, but did appreciate and cherish her friendships.
Wendy is survived by her daughter, Lisa Welch, her granddaughters, Natasha Garcia and Lu Shehata, her son-in-law Tom Welch, her brother John Swensen, and her amazing family of friends. She will truly be missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday November 12, 2022, from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
