Jane Gutowski, known affectionately as “Auntie Jane” to all, passed away peacefully on October 30th in St. Mary Health Care Center at the age of 107 ¾. Born in Worcester on January 8, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Bronislaus Gutowski and Josephine (Stramko) Gutowski.
Jane was raised in Worcester and was a live-in nanny and housekeeper for the Alexander Hiatt family for 60 years, retiring in 1995 at the age of 80. She was known for her exceptional generosity and kindness and supported many charities. Jane was a devout Catholic and a life-long member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish. She enjoyed reading, movies, and spending time with her family. She will be remembered for her “sassy and straight shooting” personality. Auntie Jane was simply adored by generations of nieces and nephews and family friends.
Jane is survived by her nieces, Joan Bagurskas of Waltham, Judith Donoghue of Rutland, and Jean Urbanowski of Paxton and her nephews, John O’Brien of North Attleboro, Dennis O’Brien of Charlton, and Richard O’Brien of Leominster. She also leaves many grand nieces, grand nephews, and great grand nieces.
Besides her parents, Jane was predeceased by her foster parents, Frank and Rose (Samsel) Kulesza, her brother Ben Gutowski, her sisters Sophie O’Brien and Julia Brennen, and great nephew, Edward L. Urbanowski.

A Calling hour will be held at HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., Worcester, on Friday, November 4th from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. followed by a funeral Mass at 11:30 A.M. at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St., Worcester and burial at Notre Dame Cemetery. Masks will be required. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish, 34 Ward St., Worcester, MA, 01610, or to the Activities Dept. at St. Mary Health Care Center, 39 Queen St. Worcester, MA, 01610.
