George F. Lee passed away peacefully at Milford Regional Medical Center on the morning of October 31. He was 87 years old. Lee was born February 21st, 1935 at his family homestead in Medway to the late Fern H. and Margaret Lee.
He graduated from Medway High School in 1952, and, with the exception of his service in the Air Force in the 1950s, was a lifelong Medway resident.
George, better known by his nickname “Poodgie”, was the sole proprietor of his eponymous construction company that served the residents of Medway and surrounding towns for over 40 years. He served on the Medway Planning Board, Water and Sewer Commission, and Board of Health. He was also a volunteer firefighter and director of the Evergreen Cemetery association.
Early in life, George loved to ski, snowmobile and play tennis. More recently, he enjoyed antique car shows, spending time with his family, and wintering in Florida with his wife of 53 years, Charlotte. On holidays and birthdays, George loved having his son Steve, daughter-in-law Catherine, and grandchildren Vivian and Henry together with his daughter Heather, and grandsons, Jake and Trevor Hibbert.
George also leaves behind his brother Robert Lee, of Sebring, Florida. He was the brother of the late Mary, Frederick, Ferne, Roberta, and Donald Lee, Ellen Leighton, Margaret Kenney and Dorothy Alton.
A remembrance service will be held on Thursday, November 3, at the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com), 3 Barber Street in Medway at 11:00 AM.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 4-7 PM at the funeral home.
