Claire Marie (Hayes) Reardon who spent her life in Medford and Malden, died October 28, 2022, at the age of 103. Born in Somerville, she was the second daughter of Stephen and Anna (Callahan) Hayes joining Frances, and followed by Ellen, Lillian, and their brother, Stephen. She graduated at the top of her class from Girls Catholic High School in Malden and went to work for the First National Bank of Boston. In 1941, she married John J. Reardon, and they began their life together in Malden. John died in 1988. Claire is survived by her children, Paula, of Canterbury, NH, and former husband, John Stariknok, of Lynnfield; John and his wife Patricia Johnson, of Weymouth; Mary and her husband Dr. Gregory Thomas, of Dana Point, CA; and Joseph and his wife Kimberly, of North Andover; as well as grandchildren Michael Stariknok, Susan Stariknok, Steven Stariknok, Ian Thomas, Erin Thomas, Sean Reardon and Danielle Reardon; and great grandchildren Nicholas Basile, Cecilia Stariknok, Kate Stariknok, Kyra Stariknok, Ellie Stariknok, Erin Stariknok, Ashley Thomas, Briana Stariknok, and Caylee Stariknok. Following her years as a homemaker, Claire returned to the workforce in the Malden School System serving for many years as secretary to the Superintendent of Schools. Upon her retirement she became an even more avid traveler and increased her volunteer activities, often at her beloved Immaculate Conception Parish. Most notable was her ministry as a Eucharistic Minister faithfully bringing communion to patients at the Glen Ridge Nursing Home into her 100th year. Her greatest joy came from gatherings of family and friends where most often she was the hostess. During these gatherings she would invariably say, "Isn't it great to be able to get together!" A salute to a life well lived! Relatives & friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant Street, Malden on Friday November 4th from 3-7 PM. A Memorial Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Immaculate Conception Church on Saturday November 5th at 10 AM. All are welcome.
