Irene (Mularczyk) Collis, 97, of New Bedford passed away at Alden Court Nursing Care on Sunday, October 23, 2022 after a brief period of declining health. She was the wife of the late Joseph Collis.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Thomas and Kondelia (Darula) Mularczyk, she lived most of her life in New Bedford and was a communicant of St. James Church.
Irene had been employed by Aerovox, Cornell Dubilier, Winfield Novelty, Russell’s Cleaners and retired from Madewell Overall Company. She was a past member of the St. James Senior Citizens Club, St. James Ladies Guild and Mount Carmel Ladies Guild.
Survivors include her daughter Patricia Bessette and son-in-law Wayne Bessette of San Antonio, FL; son Brian Collis of Carlsbad, CA; son Daniel Collis and daughter-in-law Sherri Collis of Laconia, NH, granddaughter Michelle Yoder, her husband Travis Yoder and great-granddaughter Presley of Brooksville, FL; granddaughter Katie Hudson, her husband Scott Hudson and great-grandson Dylan of Niceville, FL; grandson David Collis and his wife Lauren Collis of Dover, NH; and grandson James Collis and his fiancée Emily Dionne of Hudson, MA. Irene was loved by many nieces, nephews and close friends.
She was the sister of the late Frederick Mularcyzk, Johanna King, Wanda Larocque, Edward Rymut and Chester Rymut.
Irene spent the last few years of her life at Alden Court where she was lovingly cared for by the staff.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday Nov. 4th at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
