Ann H. (Evans) Silva, 80 of Lowell, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at Lowell General Hospital Saints Campus with her family by her side. She was the widow of the late Peter M. Silva who passed away in 2013 after 48 years of marriage.
She was born in Lowell on June 23, 1942 and was a daughter of the late Francis Evans and the late Helen (Duffy) Evans. She was raised and educated in the South Lowell area, graduating from Sacred Heart Grammar School and Lowell High School. In her younger days, she was the Mass State Baton Twirling Champion; was in the Lowell High Band; and was Lowell High’s Queen of Baton Twirling, twice.
Ann worked alongside her husband at their family business, Pete’s Garage for many years. She loved playing bingo and crocheting. She also enjoyed visiting Salisbury Beach and was an avid Nascar fan.
She is survived by her children, Howard F. Silva of Lowell, Laurie A. Silva of Lowell, Jo-Ann P. Lobao of East Berne, NY, Peter G. Silva and his wife Adrienne of Lee, NH, Christine A. Hannigan and her husband, David A., of Methuen, and Christopher D. Silva and his wife, Gretchen E., of Sanford, ME; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Marion Baril and her husband, Bob of Litchfield, NH and a cousin Manuel Silva and his wife Theana of Lowell.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful staff at Lowell General Hospital Saints Campus for the wonderful care they provided for Ann during her final days.
On Tuesday, November 1, 2022 all are welcome to attend her calling hours from 3-7 p.m. at McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell, MA 978-458-6816. Her funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. at the end of the calling hours.
