Dimitroula (Tsangarelis) James, 87, of Worcester formerly of Dennisport died Wednesday, October 26th in UMASS Memorial Hospital – University Campus. Her husband of 43 years, Anthony James died in 1997. She leaves four sons, Ernest A. James, Sr. and his wife, Ann of Worcester who was her caretaker for the last four years, Arthur James and his wife, Terry of Orange City, FL, Michael James and his wife, Donna of Worcester, and William James and his wife, Donna of Worcester; three sisters Fotoula, Joanna, and Koula of Greece; ten grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by a grandson, Anthony James.
She was born in Pikerni, Tripolis, Arcadis, Greece the daughter of Anastasios and Vasiliki (Tsangalaki) Tsangarelis. After immigrating to the United States in 1952, Dimitroula began working at Table Talk Pie, Co as a baker and assembler and then Northeast Foods, retiring in 1981. Following retirement, Dimitroula and Anthony moved to Dennisport where she enjoyed spending her days working in the Yarmouth school system as a cafeteria worker.
Dimitroula was a former member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral. She enjoyed spending her time knitting, travelling to Greece with her husband, and gardening. Most importantly, she cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Her funeral is Monday, October 31st with a service at 11:00 a.m. in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Her visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the start of the service.
