CHARLTON – Lorraine J. (Duszlak) Rys, 92, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Overlook Masonic Health Care after a period of declining health/ Her husband of 33 years, Henry Rys, died November 9, 2013.
She leaves a son, Charles E. Kaczor and his wife Patricia of Barre; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was born at home in Dudley on January 2, 1930, daughter of John and Sophie (Antkowiak) Duszlak. She attended Saint Joseph School in Webster and graduated from Bartlett High School where she studied business subjects. She lived in Dudley until 1976 when she moved to Somers, CT and then to Tolland, CT. Along with her husband Henry, she then spent about 15 years on a large property in Virginia after retirement and only returned to the area when failing health brought them back closer to family.
Mrs. Rys was an office clerk at Webster Wire Company in Oxford, later Leggett & Pratt, for over 40 years before retiring.
Lorraine was an accomplished accordion player with the Saint Joseph orchestra and also with other Polish bands. Lorraine loved playing and dancing to polkas. She loved her dogs, camping, yard work and bowling.
She will be missed very much.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 2, from the Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster, with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street, Webster. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace, Webster. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, November 1, in the funeral home.
