Jerry “Donald” Chambless, 79, of Tifton passed away Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Palemon-Gaskins Nursing Home in Ocilla. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2022, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Joseph L. Crumley officiating. Mr. Chambless will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service.
Clint Chambless, Ches Chambless, Bobby Busbin, Glenn Faulk, Lane Sumner and Russell Hullett will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Streepy, William Dwight Morrow and Steve Scheunemann.
Born June 9, 1943, in Brillant, Alabama, Mr. Chambless was the son of the late RD Chambless and Opal Clytee Tesney Chambless. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Gail Tindall Chambless. Before retiring, he was a farmer and worked in maintenance. He was a member of Landmark Baptist Church in Irwin County.
Mr. Chambless is survived by his children and their spouses, LaDon and Kacee Chambless of Ocilla, Michelle and Bill Ryder of Chula and Allen and Stephanie Peugh and Courtney and Allison Peugh, all of Tifton; one sister and brother-in-law, Wanda Sue and Ken Watson of Tifton; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Chase Powell, Cheyenne Ryder, Cole Ryder, Garrett and Lagan Chambless, Jeremy and Lauren Chambless, Bryce Peugh, Logan Peugh and Lelan Peugh; three great-grandchildren, Mylee Chambless, John Hilton Chambless and Joseph Chambless; and numerous nieces and nephews.
