Joanne F. (Gover) Clifford, age 88, of Wakefield, formerly of Stoneham and Malden, passed away on October 24th, 2022 at Brightview Senior Living Center. Born in Somerville on January 18th, 1934 to John F. and Eleanor M. Gover, Joanne was the second of nine children. She was raised in Malden and graduated from Girls Catholic High School. After graduating, she went to work for the New England Telephone Company where she remained for 35 years until her retirement at age 55. Joanne had many interests and hobbies over the years. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, loved playing golf, going to shows, making jewelry and donating to charities. She loved to travel with friends and her favorite country to visit was Switzerland. While Joanne loved doing many things, her favorite pastime was spending time with her family, and she was always the first to arrive to every party. Joanne was a loving sister to Madelyn Fortier and her husband Paul of Wakefield, and a joy in the lives of her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Robert Gover, Eleanor Long, John Gover, Daniel Gover, Sister Carole Gover, SSND, Michael Gover and Paul Gover, as well as her friend and former husband, Arthur Clifford. Visitation will be held at the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Monday November 21st from 8:30-9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 10 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden.
