Obituary

Steven P. Pina, 61, of New Bedford passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 22, 2022.

Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Evelyn (Barros) Vieira and Clinton P. Pina, the brother of the late Clinton P. Pina Jr., and the father of the late Evelyn Pina.

He was survived by his wife, Karen (Cauble) Pina of New Bedford, his daughters, Iesha Pina and partner William Grajales and Stephanie Pina, all of New Bedford, his sons, Zachery Pacheco and wife, Alanna Pacheco of Dartmouth and Steven P. Pina II and partner, Beyoncé Grace of New Bedford; his grandchildren, D’Rajan Estrada, Dreshaun Pina, Isabella Grajales, and Steven P. Pina III, all of New Bedford, Amelia Pacheco and Ethan Pacheco, both of Dartmouth, as well as his sisters, Darnell (Pina) Jones and husband, Robert and Denise Pina-Bailey and husband, and his brothers, Randall Pina and his wife, John D. Pina and partner, and Paul Pina and wife Penny. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and tons of friends, old and new.

Steven was formerly employed by Johnson & Johnson and the City of New Bedford Sanitation Department. He also served as a Sergeant in the Army National Guard for many years.

Steven Pina was a well-known man, simple trips to the grocery store always became catch-up sessions with old associates and friends. He was an avid football fan, who loved consuming the sport. He always loved being with his family, ensuring that the people he loved were happy. He loved to cook, making Manchup, Christmas Ham, and to Barbecue. He always loved to laugh, he had a quick wit. He was a music lover as well, he would always have Tavares or Earth, Wind, and Fire on. He was a lover of animals. He was a hard-working man, who took care of his family. He was the greatest husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, who will be truly and deeply missed.

His visitation will be held on Friday October 28th from 4-7 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, with military honors at 6:15 PM. For online condolence book, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
