Elizabeth Tawzer McBrayer, 90, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at The Orchard at Stone Creek in Hahira. Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Wayside Missionary Baptist Church in Tifton with the Rev. Joseph L. Crumley officiating. A eulogy will be given by Kenny McBrayer. Mrs. McBrayer will be laid to rest at Wayside Baptist Church Cemetery in Tifton. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 26, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Hal McBrayer, Harmon Tawzer, Johnny Tawzer, Tubby Tawzer, Carl Tawzer and Joe Tawzer will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold and Maggie Tawzer, Harmon and Juanita Tawzer, Glynn Tawzer, Coy Tawzer, Ruth Hall, Faye Roberts, Louise and Billy Smith, Troy and Frances McBrayer, Royce and Bobbie McBrayer, Gus and Diane Upshaw, Randall and Debra Moore and Inez McBrayer.
Born December 5, 1932, in Tift County, Mrs. McBrayer was the daughter of the late Thomas Howard Tawzer, Sr. and Ofelon Hightower Tawzer. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, William “Glen” McBrayer; two brothers, T.H. Tawzer, Jr. and Donald Tawzer; and one sister, Carol McBrayer. She earned her Bachelor of Education degree and taught school for 29 years in the Tift County School System and she continued teaching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren for the rest of her days. She was a member of Wayside Baptist Church in Tifton.
Mrs. McBrayer is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Glenda Thomas and Michael Purvis, Teresa and Mike Williams and Nancy and Jerry Brannen, all of Tifton; four brothers, Harold Tawzer, Harmon Tawzer, Glynn Tawzer and Coy Tawzer, all of Tifton; one sister, Ruth Hall of Tifton; five grandchildren and their spouses, Jill and Richy Grimes, Gentry and Tracey Cater, Adam Brannen, Cari and James Aultman and Tara and Patrick Riner; and six great-grandchildren, Blakeleigh Cater, Jared, Tanner and Colton Grimes, Reece Riner and Brannen Aultman.
