Obituary

Robert Edwin McDermott, Sr., 85, died on Friday evening, October 21, 2022 surrounded by his family following a period of declining health.
He was born in Boston on September 25, 1937 the son of the late George McDermott and Loretta (Hurley) McDermott.
Bob was the beloved husband of the late Barbara Ann (Pearce) McDermott who died in 1992.
He is survived by his loving children; Janice George of Milford; Robert E. McDermott, Jr. and his wife Jamie Wilson of Milford and David E. McDermott and his wife Bobbie Jo McDermott of Bellingham. Cherished grandfather of Lindsey George of Hopkinton; Michele George of Milford; Olivia and Ruby McDermott of Bellingham. Great-grandfather of Christian, Austin, Kaylee and Ethan as well as great-great grandfather of C.J. Step-grandfather of Katelyn Wilson, Thomas Wilson and Evan Wilson of Milford and step-great grandfather of Serena Rodriquez. Bob was predeceased by his 12 siblings. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Bob spent his formative years in West Roxbury and has been a longtime resident of Natick. For 25 years, he was a custodian with the Town of Natick School Department prior to his retirement. He was associated for over 15 years as a Roofer for Nobalini Roofing in Framingham. He was also a member of the Roofers Union. Bob has been an active member of the Natick Elks.
He served his country with honor and pride with the United States Marine Corps as a Private First Class.
He loved all Boston sports especially the Red Sox and Patriots and was an early fan of the Boston Braves. He was very proud of his Irish heritage, had a quick wit and always had a little smirk.
Visitations will be held on Friday, October 28, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (off Rt 30), Cochituate Village, Wayland.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 11:30 am at St. Patrick Cemetery, Pond St, Natick.
