Antonetta S. (Summa) Antonino “Ann” passed away peacefully at the Kaplan Family Hospice House of Danvers. She was 92. Born and raised in Boston’s North End, she was the daughter of the late Frank P. and the late Gaetana (Cartalfo) Summa.
A woman with boundless energy and strength, Ann lived most of her life in the North End, until settling in Charlestown in recent years. As a young woman Ann worked in retail and studied art and drafting at the New England School of Art. Ann enjoyed a long career as a drafts person with the Insurance Services Office in Boston and Quincy. Never one to sit still, she worked for several years as the director of hospitality and events with the law firm of Peckham and Lobel.
Throughout her life she enjoyed painting and drawing, always giving her artistic touch to whatever she did. Ann was an opera enthusiast and listened to it at home regularly. When she was in her 80’s she began teaching art at the Golden age Center in Charlestown. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Ann also enjoyed traveling and saw the world from Europe to the Far East. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
The beloved wife of the late George M. Antonino, Ann was a devoted mother of Georgeann P. Antonino-Kruzel of Woburn and Paul J. Antonino and his wife Theresa of Wakefield. She was a loving grandmother to Lucia and Natalie Antonino. The dear sister of the late Frank Summa and his wife Josephine, James Summa and his wife Nellie, Mario Summa and his wife Anne, Michael Summa and his wife Susan, Gasper Summa and his wife Mary and Mary Ann Trodella and her husband Victor, Ann is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Ann’s funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Thursday, October 27 at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Stephen Church, Boston’s North End, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday 4 - 8. Burial will be held privately.
