Obituary

Van Joe Belflower, 75, of Adel passed away Sunday, October 23, 2022, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta. His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2022, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Chad Payne officiating. Mr. Belflower will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.

Josh Belflower, John Thomas Belflower, Terry Mayne, David Carr, Michael Haman and Dr. Chris Gibbs will serve as pallbearers.

Born June 20, 1947, in Tifton, Mr. Belflower was the son of the late Willie Joe Belflower and Betty Howell Belflower Castagna. Before retiring, he held various heavy equipment management positions with John Deere and Caterpillar dealerships. He was an ordained deacon and a member of New Life Baptist Church in Adel. He also served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam era. He was affectionately known by his grandchildren as “Grandy”.

Mr. Belflower is survived by his wife, Donna Mathis Belflower of Adel; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Susan Belflower of Macon and Brian and Kristy Belflower of Frisco, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, Phillip and Sally Belflower of Chula; one sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Michael Haman of Nashville, Tennessee; and three grandchildren, Josh Belflower, John Thomas Belflower and Emma Belflower.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to New Life Baptist Church, 2904 Georgia Highway 76, Adel, GA 31620.
