WOELFEL, Eleanor B. (Denner) “Ellie” Longtime resident of Roslindale and Plymouth, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of the late Eugene J. “Smitty” Woelfel. Devoted mother of Gail M. Reardon and her husband James of Dedham, Mark G. Woelfel and his wife Marianne of Stoughton, Jeanne C. Sumner of Mattapoisett, Steven J. Woelfel and his wife Gina of Walpole, and the late Karen B. Woelfel, and Linda J. Woelfel. Loving “Grandma Ellie” of Lisa Flaherty, Jane Murphy, Eric Woelfel, Ryan Woelfel, Larra Sumner, Gabrielle Sumner, Hayden Sumner, Adam Sumner, Jack Woelfel, Emma Woelfel, and the late James Woelfel, and great-grandmother of Brenna, Nora, James, and Gwen. Beloved daughter of the late John A. and Barbara E. (O’Donnell) Denner. Sister of Joan Forrester of FL., and the late John Denner Jr., and Lois McManus. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Eleanor was a great cook, and loved entertaining with family and friends at her lake house in Plymouth where she spent many happy summers with her husband and family. She was retired from N.E. Telephone where she worked for 35 years.
Visiting hours will be held at the P.E. Murray-F.J. Higgins, George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home 2000 Centre St. West Roxbury on Wednesday, October 26th from 4-8pm. Funeral from the funeral home on Thursday, October 27th at 9:30am, followed by a Funeral Mass at Holy Name Church, at 10:30am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham.
