Jim was born on July 18, 1954, to the late Captain Alvin Neal Adcock, Jr. and Edith Sandifer Adcock in Tifton, Georgia.
Jim graduated high school in 1972 from Howey Academy in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida. After graduation, Jim went on to study Political Science at the University of Georgia. This made Jim a lifelong fan of the Georgia Bulldogs.
Upon graduating from college, Jim later returned to his hometown to work for his father’s business, Adcock Pecans. At the time of his death, Jim was co-owner and proudly worked alongside his own son, Clint.
Jim remained an avid sports enthusiast throughout his life. He could often be found on his porch watching a football or baseball game, or out eating in town with his wife, Cathy. Jim never met a stranger, and his friends and family describe him as the life of the party.
Jim was predeceased by his father, Alvin Neal Adcock, Jr.; his mother, Edith Sandifer Adcock; and his brother, Alvin Neal Adcock, III. He is survived by his wife, Cathy Adcock; his children, Clint and Sandra Adcock; Chloe and Rey Del Toro; Jessica Smith; Taylor (Smith) and Matt Franks, Hillary Smith and fiance’, Clay Phillips; his grandchildren, Liam Nolan, Thomas Kearney, Ashley Kearney, Aric Adcock, Smith Owens, Camden Del Toro, and Penelope Franks.
The family would like to invite all who Jim held dear to attend a Celebration of Life on Thursday evening at one of his favorite local places, The Pub, 1803 US Highway 41 N, Tifton, GA at 6:00 PM. Please come honor Jim in the way we know he would have loved, with laughter and friendship.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Friends of Tift County Animal Shelter, 278 Georgia Highway 125 South, Tifton, GA 31794. Jim loved his precious pets and asked about them to the very end.
