Margaret Cecile (Greene) Bernard, 92, of Franklin, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2022. Marge was born October 12, 1930, to John and Mary Greene of Berkeley California, and had primarily lived in Berkeley CA and West Hartford CT before moving to Franklin Massachusetts in 1968.
She attended Hall High School in West Hartford, CT, where she met the love of her life, Charlie Bernard, to whom she was married for 56 years before his death in 2010. She went on to graduate from William and Mary College in Virginia, raise her family, and work in the Commercial Insurance business.
Marge could often be found with palette in hand painting everything from island scenes to the masters, to modern interpretations. Her artwork adorned her house and many homes of the people she loved. She enjoyed playing golf with friends, especially at her beloved Franklin Country Club, solving the NYT crossword puzzles, sunsets, walks on the Cape Cod beach and especially time with her family.
She is survived by her son David Bernard, and his wife Lise, her grandsons, André and Christian Bernard, and her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charlie, and her cherished brother Phil Greene, with both of whom she is now happily reunited.
A remembrance for Marge will be held at the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St. Franklin MA on Wednesday November 2nd from 10:00 -11:30 am. Services will be held directly after at St. Mary’s Cemetery, in Franklin, MA.
