Obituary

Roland Eric Roberge, 27, passed away unexpectedly on October 15, 2022.

Roland Eric was born on April 17, 1995 and grew up in Norton, MA. He attended Norton public schools, graduating from Norton High School in 2013. He continued his education at Bridgewater State University and UMass Amherst, studying chemistry and biochemistry. He was an avid learner and a lover of research with a deep and ever-growing curiosity for a myriad of subjects, including biology, chemistry, and botany.

Roland Eric was a dedicated student of Kensho Ryu Kenpo Karate for 10 years. He was a skilled martial artist who earned his black belt under the tutelage of Gordon Marshall, the late Stephen Desfosses, and Alan Titus. He continued his martial arts training, including boxing and Jiu Jitsu, at Bishop’s Training and Fitness in West Bridgewater, MA.

Those who knew him well will fondly remember his quick wit and incredible intellect, his unique sense of humor, and his altruistic nature. Only those closest to him felt his fierce and unwavering loyalty and his extraordinary capacity for love. He had an especially tender heart for his grandparents, parents, sisters, and animals of all kind - particularly his cherished pets and his many fur nieces and nephews. All who encountered Roland Eric will recall his quiet kindness and boundless generosity.

He is survived by his loving parents Roland and Katherine, his sisters Marie and Christiana and their respective spouses David and Steven, his paternal grandmother Ilene Trainor, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members. He will also be remembered as a beloved uncle to his sister’s child, who is expected later this year.

A celebration of life will be held privately, but those who wish to honor Roland Eric may make a donation in his memory to the Mansfield Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 25, Mansfield, MA 02048.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street, Norton.
