Marcia L. (Dion) Godfrey, age 77, a lifelong resident of Norton, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at the Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.
Born in Attleboro, MA on September 26, 1945, she was a loving daughter of the late Victor T. and Majorie E. (Henning) Dion.
Marcia grew up and was educated in Norton. Prior to retiring, she had worked as a Massage Therapist for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and had previously been employed at the Wrentham State School and the former Paul A. Dever State School.
Marcia’s family, whom she loved dearly, were truly the essence of her life. Her second greatest joy in life was overseeing the day-to-day operations of her family’s beautiful farm on South Worcester Street in Norton, which also included gardening and a keen eye for yard maintenance.
She had a special kind place in her heart for animals, especially horses and when younger was an accomplished equestrian. Marcia was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Norton and also enjoyed bicycling along the Cape Cod Canal.
She is survived by her devoted sons: David G. Godfrey, Sr. and his wife Lisa of Norton and Sean A. Godfrey and his partner Jennifer of Minnesota. She was the cherished grandmother of Erin Godfrey, Lily Godfrey, Joshua Godfrey, David Godfrey, Jr, and the great grandmother of Brady, Bryce and Bradley. She was the dear sister of Donald Dion of Attleboro, Phyllis Godfrey of Nevada, David Dion of Tennessee, Cheryl Godfrey of Tennessee, Miriam Tremblay of Texas, Dorothy Claflin of New Jersey and the late Bruce Dion and Patricia Arsenault. She is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews.
Services and burial will be private and visiting hours are omitted.
