DUDLEY – Barbara A. (Harvard) Sterczala, 83, formerly of Schofield Avenue and Joshua Place, died Sunday, October 9, 2022 in Care One at Millbury after a period of declining health.
She leaves 3 sons, Chester Sterczala and his wife Ramona, and Kevin Sterczala and his wife Sharon, all of Oxford, and Gary Sterczala and his wife Shawn of Killingly, CT; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; a brother, John Harvard of Dudley; 3 sisters, Rita Grayden of Nashua, NH, Jeanne Powers and her huband Edward of Webster, and Joan Burditt of Danielson, CT; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Larry Sterczala in 2010, by her grandson Jake Sterczala in 2011, and by 3 brothers Henry Harvard, Jr., Frank Harvard and Joseph Harvard.
She was born in Dudley on October 6, 1939 a daughter of Henry Harvard, Sr. and Agnes (Nierodzinski) Harvard and was a life-long resident. She graduated from Bartlett High School.
Barbara was a certified nurse assistant at the former Oakwood Nursing Home for several years before retiring in 1991. Prior to working at Oakwood, she was a waitress at the State Line Casino. She enjoyed knitting, reading and listening to polka music.
The family would like to thank the staff at Care One at Millbury for their excellent care and compassion for Barbara during her time there.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 4, in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace, Old Worcester Road, Webster. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster.
