In Providence, RI, Eva Arruda, age 98, passed away peacefully in the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, RI while surrounded by her loving family. Eva was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Arruda. She was born in Taunton, the daughter of the late John and Theresa (Mello) Lopes.
Eva was a lifetime resident of Taunton. She was educated in Taunton schools where she raised her family. Eva enjoyed being outside and taking care of her property, sewing, knitting, and above all was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother who cherished her time with family and friends.
Eva is survived by her beloved daughters, Paula Curran and her husband Tom of Taunton, Bonita “Bonnie” Arruda and her partner Bob Canazey of Taunton and Jacqueline Sylvia and her husband John of Taunton. She also leaves her grandchildren, Tanya Escapa of Taunton and Curtis Sylvia of Maine and her dear friend and sister in law Eileen Robitaille of Taunton and the last surviving of 12 siblings. Eva also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Funeral home visiting hours will be held at the O’Keefe Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Sunday, October 16th from 4-6 pm. Funeral from the O’Keefe Wade Funeral Home at 10 am. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 17th at 11 am. at St. Andrew the Apostle Church in Taunton.
