Obituary

ANDOVER     Louis F. ‘Louie’ Soares, 58, of Andover, passed away Monday, October 10, 2022, at Mass General Hospital after a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Leonilda A. (Alves) Soares, with whom he shared Thirty Eight years of Marriage this past September 29th.

     A son of the late Jose and the late Maria (Cunha) Soares, he was born September 22, 1964, in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal and came to the United States at the age of eight. He was raised and educated in Cambridge. He made his home in Somerville after his marriage to Leonilda, and then moved to Billerica where they started there family before relocating to Tewksbury. He resided in Tewksbury for over twenty years, and recently move to Andover.

     He was a wood worker and carpenter and worked throughout Boston as a Union Carpenter, most recently for Stanley and Sons in Newton. Louie enjoyed playing hockey in adult leagues and also enjoyed music and played piano in the band, Acorianos Portuguese Band. He also played basketball and loved watching football and hockey in person or on television.

     Besides his loving wife, Leonilda, he is survived by his children, Christopher Soares and his girlfriend, Marie Ricupero, of Methuen and Desire Soares of Lowell; and his siblings, Antonio, Paula, Gloria, Filomena, John, Manny, George, and Marco. He is also survived by his father-in-law Jose Alves of Cambridge, and many sisters and brother in laws. Also aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and their families, and many friends. And his first granddaughter whom he couldn’t wait to meet next month. 

     He was predeceased by his brother Eddie Soares and mother-in-law Leonilde Alves. 

     You are invited to His Calling Hours 8 until 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 15, at the TEWKSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 1 Dewey Street, Tewksbury, 978-851-2061.  His Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Anthony Church, 863 Central Street, Lowell at 12 noon.  Followed by procession to the Immaculate Conception Cemetery Mausoleum.
