Obituary

STANDISH- Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hath been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of the Lord – Matthew 25:21.
Edward A. Spiller, age 83, was welcomed into Glory on Oct. 8, 2022, at Ledgewood Manor.
He was born in Naples, Maine on June 28, 1939, a son of the late Arnold and Ethel (Treadwell) Spiller and graduated from Westbrook Schools. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. After being honorably discharged, Edward attended SMVTI.
Over his working years Edward was employed as a machinist and worked for companies such as GTE, Knowlton, D & G, and Lanco – retiring at the age of 77.
Edward was a faithful man who served as a chaplain in the American Legion, and was involved with The Orchard Church, the Richville Chapel, Faith Christian Center, and Oak Hill Community Church.
He enjoyed singing in church and at nursing homes to cheer up the residents and bring the Word to them, studying theology, making wooden pocket crosses, fishing, boating, flying and snowmobiling. He was a man who cherished every single moment with his family and friends.
He is predeceased by a step son- Shawn Hanscome.
Edward is survived by his beloved wife- Cheryl (Laughlin) Spiller; children- Kimberly Dijkhoff and her husband Richard of Windham, Kelly Curry and her husband Wayne of Windham, Aaron Spiller and his companion Amy of Windham, and Stacy Hunt and her husband Paul of Gorham; a brother- William Spiller of Windham; step son- Aaron Hanscome; grandchildren- Zachary and Gabriella Dijkhoff, Nathan and Emily PeBenito, and Kirsten and Kali Perry; and one great granddaughter- Opal Perry who brought him the biggest joy. Edward’s family would like to thank the staff at Ledgewood Manor and Northern Lights Hospice for their care and support.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday Oct. 17th from 3:00pm – 7:00pm with a 4:00pm memorial service at the Windham Veterans Center, 35 Veterans Memorial Drive, Windham.
