Obituary

Michael "Mike" Anthony Johnson, age 55, passed away on October 6, 2022.

After a hard-fought battle with cancer, Mike went peacefully, in his home, surrounded by his loving family. Mike was an adoring husband, dedicated father, honorable son, loving brother, and truly a friend to all – the "magic of Mike" was felt whenever he walked into a room. Mike is survived by his ever-loving wife and three beautiful daughters. Mike was a faithful Catholic who lived out the Gospel in his daily life and was an inspiration to all those around him to do the same. Mike was an accomplished wood worker and artist. His home is filled with his beautiful furniture, turned bowls, and countless other works of art. His creativity was also expressed through his work as an engineer and a scientist. He received a B.S. in Physics from Univ. of San Francisco, an M.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from W.P.I, and a PhD in Macromolecular Science and Engineering from University of Michigan. He worked for 22 years in the biopharmaceutical industry where he loved designing and implementing automation for research and drug development.

Mike never missed an opportunity to help someone in need, from helping a stranger change a tire to giving a ride to someone walking home with groceries. While raising a family with the love of his life, he served as secretary of the local St. Vincent de Paul, was a recipient Ambassador for the Michael P. Nosco Foundation, and faithfully participated in the perpetual adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

Mike will be sorely missed.

A special thanks is extended to Dr. James Cleary and Rev. Thomas Rafferty, who, in each of their indispensable ways, helped and guided Mike and his family throughout his battle and eased his final days.

We think he was pretty close to perfect, and will undoubtedly grow even more perfect in our memory. But we do believe that he can use our prayers and we all know that he will return that favor.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 18, at Dockray and Thomas Funeral Home (455 Washington St, Canton 02021) from 4:00-8:00 PM.
