Christos Mitsopoulos, 98, of Worcester died Monday, October 10th in St. Vincent Hospital. He leaves his wife of 70 years, Golfo (Papaioannou) Mitsopoulos; a son, Dimitri James of Worcester; a daughter, Ioanna Mantalvanos and her husband, William of Worcester; four grandchildren, Vasiliki Kourmouzi of Worcester, Kleio Kourmouzi-Tzeremes and her husband, Ioannis of Auburn,
Joanna James Moschos, Joanna Moschos and her husband, Charles of Ridgefield, CT, and Christos James and his wife, Ashley of Worcester; seven great-grandchildren, Elena, Maria, Mariella, Zoe, Ava, Sotiria, and Alexander; and many nieces and nephews in Greece. He was predeceased by two brothers, Charalabos and Leonidas; two sisters, Anastasia and Olga.
He was born in Amarantos Konitsas, Greece the son of Sotirios and Paraskevi (Goudou) Mitsopoulos and immigrated to the United States in 1997. He was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Christos enjoyed playing backgammon and spending time with family and friends.
Funeral services in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral are private. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue is assisting the family with arrangements.
