Worcester – Sylvester C. ‘Clyde” Baines, 66, of Worcester, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2022 in Saint Vincent Hospital after a brief illness.
Clyde was married for 36 years to the late Susan J. (Fournier) Baines who died in 2018. He is survived by two sons, Sylvester C. Baines and his wife, Donna of Danielson, CT and Justin T. Baines of Worcester; two daughters, Sara E. Baines of Worcester and Chelsea L. Jordan and her husband, Devin of Worcester; a brother Jerome Baines of New York; a sister, Sylvia Baines of New York; 3 grandchildren, Tatyana Rivera, Sylvester Baines III and George Baines and many nephews and nieces.
Mr. Baines was born in Rocky Mount, NC son of the late Willy R. and Elizabeth (Parker) Baines and is also predeceased by two sons, Evan Foley and Christopher Foley.
Clyde worked for over 20 years at the Harvard University Research Center in the maintenance and engineering department. He had an infectious personality and while not watching some of his favorite westerns he could be found having long conversations with his family and friends. Clyde also loved spending time going to yard sales and estate sales.
His funeral will be held on Friday, October 14, from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond Street Worcester with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in Immaculate Conception Church 353 Grove St. Worcester. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. A calling hour will be held from 9 to 10 AM in the funeral home before the funeral. Memorial contributions in memory of Clyde may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
