Obituary

On Friday, October 7, 2022, Kimberly Ann Arellanes Mizuno also known as “Kimmie” passed away at the age of sixtyone. Kimmie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend.
Kimberly is survived by and missed by her loving husband of 36 years, Ken Mizuno. Her children: Kenneth (Lyzette) and Kane (Eloisa) Mizuno. Her granddaughter Zoey Mizuno. Her mother Evelyn Arellanes and siblings: Brenda Wargo, Randy (Monica) Arellanes, and Pammie (Tom) Kriesel. She is survived by her siblings-in-law: Betty Salinas and Mark Mizuno and by her honorary sister and cousin, Debbie “Hefty” (Steve) Maciel as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
She was awaited in Heaven by her loving father Frank Arellanes, in-laws Kenichi and Mary Mizuno, brother-in-law Sam Salinas and beloved dog Brewster “Baby Boots” Mizuno.
Kimmie was born in Ventura, CA to Frank and Evelyn Arellanes on November 2nd, 1960. She graduated from Ventura High School where she spread her spirit as a Mat Cat for the schools Wrestling team. After graduating Kimmie worked primarily as a phone operator and a CWA union steward for the Pacific Bell phone company. She retired from the company after 30 years.
She met her husband, Ken, whilst volunteering for the Santa Clara Church Youth Group. After one year together they decided to get married and start their family. Kimmie loved being a mom and devoted her life to her two sons, Kenneth and Kane. She was their biggest supporter and could be found cheering the loudest at any of their sporting events.
Kimmie had the strongest of wills and was known for not holding back her opinions and telling it like it was. She was always there if you needed an ear and would tell you the truth even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear. She always stood up for the underdog and was not afraid to do the right thing. She was giving and kind-hearted. She loved to plan family events, write hand-written letters to her friends, swim, garden, crafting, and took extra pride in her calendar books. In her later years she loved to spend her days out in the sun either gardening, enjoying a smoke, spending the day at Chumash Casino, or chatting to a loved one. She was strong in her faith and took life as it came. Even in her illness she kept a positive outlook and did her best to ease those around her. She was content with the simple pleasures that life had to offer and knew that family was the most important thing.
Kimmie was a colorful, one-of-a-kind person and will be deeply missed.
The Mizuno family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Micah Dickey, Fresenius Dialysis Center, and to the St. John’s Hospital medical staff for all the care and attention given to Kimmie and the family.
