Madelyn J. "Joanie" (Shea) Golden, a 17 year resident of Medford and formerly of Everett, Malden, and Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Friday, October 7, 2022 at CareOne in Lexington following a brief illness. She was 75 years of age.
Joanie was born in Boston on September 19, 1947, a daughter of the late Thomas Shea and Shirley (McAlevey) Shea. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated in the Boston Public School System and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1965. Joanie volunteered for many years with the Salvation Army in Malden. In her youth, she was passionate about the Drum and Bugle Corps. She loved animals and playing BINGO. Joanie will be remembered for her wit and sarcasm.
Joanie is the devoted mother of April Long and her husband Jonathan, and James Snow and his companion Ashley Marshall. She is the loving Nanny of Christopher, Andre, and Devin. She is the beloved sister of the late Thomas J. Shea Jr., Kevin Shea, Robert Shea, and Susan McCaffrey. She is the dear aunt of Robbie, Sarah, and Holly Shea. She is the lifelong best friend of Laney Wadman.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Joanie's Funeral Service on Friday, October 14, 2022 at 11 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her burial at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Her visiting hours will be on Thursday, October 13, 2022 from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. in the funeral home.
